FMTC - Flanders' MECHATRONICS Technology Centre
Innovating together for superior machines
Flanders' Mechatronics Technology Centre (FMTC) is a division of Flanders Make vzw. The mission of Flanders Make is to strenghten the long-term international competitiveness of the Flemish manufacturing industry by performing industry-driven, pre-competitive, excellent research in the technological domains of mechatronics, product development methods and advanced manufacturing technologies.
To achieve this mission, FMTC conducts industry-driven joint projects and contract research assignments in the following research programs: smart sensors, self-optimization of mechatronic systems, energy efficient electro-mechanical drive-lines, and model-based design of mechatronic systems.
In 2003 FMTC was founded by AGORIA, the Belgian technology industry federation, and leading mechatronic companies in Flanders. In 2014 FMTC became a division of the Strategic Research Manufacturing Industry, where FMTC, Flanders' DRIVE and laboratories of the five Flemish universities join forces and years of experience.
As a technology demonstrator FMTC developed the first badminton robot in the world.
